Sri Lanka's manufacturing sector faces unique challenges due to its high humidity and saline coastal environment. This creates a critical need for specialized iron casing and protective coatings to prevent rapid oxidation and structural degradation in industrial machinery.
Currently, the local market is transitioning from basic gray iron to more advanced materials. The adoption of enamelled cast iron plate has seen a rise in food processing and chemical plants across Colombo and Gampaha, where hygiene and chemical resistance are paramount.
Despite the growth, there is a noticeable gap in high-precision aluminum gravity casting capabilities locally, leading many Sri Lankan automotive and electrical firms to seek international partners who can provide tighter tolerances and lighter weight components.
